The Fanatic The garden shed owned by The Fanatic can not have any mud, bugs, or spills in it. This shed cleaner than many people’s homes. Every tool in the ‘Spade By Him’ Catalogue can be found in here, and most of them are still in the original protective packaging. The tools that have made it out of the shed for the occasional gardening
job have been washed, oiled, and polished to within an inch their life. Everything is labelled, stored neatly in order, and recorded in a filing system. The Fanatic spends a most of his time in his garden shed: re-arranging tools, sharpening tools, emptying draws and refilling them and cleaning the shelves. Once he has left the shed he shuts, locks, and double locks the door. The Chav’s This large garden shed is filled with anything and everything acquired from car boot sales or unknown sources. The bigger the better. If there is anything in there that relates to gardening, it is by accident rather then intention - The Chav’s owner doesn't believe in gardening. Burberry baseball caps hang on the wall hooks; a large music system pumps loud dance 24/7. Sofas fill the shed to accommodate the many visitors who stay for hours watching Jerry Springer on the portable TV, and a small fridge in the corner contains cans of larger to quench the ever present thirst. The Allotmenter As suggested by the name, this garden shed is found on an allotment and houses many old and well used tools. Onions hang from the roof to dry among the endless spider webs, and green tomatoes sit on the window sill to ripen in the sunlight. Even though this garden shed is used for its intended purpose, it also doubles up as the gardener’s social club, hence the four fold-up chairs leaning against the wall. A camping stove lives on the work bench, accompanied by a battered kettle, and four chipped mugs. The Hobbyist For the collector, the garden shed is filled to the brim with their respective collection. Always highly organised, carefully catalogued, and attractively displayed. Many hours are spent examining their collection under carefully installed spotlights, and the windows are fitted with black out blinds so the sunlight does not damage the collection. For the creative hobbyist, for exmaple the aspiring writer, the garden shed becomes their garden office. A haven of inspiration. Desk and computer sit by the window, and the shelves are full of books about the art of writing. There is only one chair as guests are never invited in. It’s no wonder the sales of garden sheds are increasing when they are such versatile garden buildings, and can be adapted to suit everyone’s needs. |
